It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our esteemed colleague and friend, Steven Bunn, who tragically passed away on 22 April 2023.
Steven, a founding member and director of Hewlett Bunn Incorporated, was a well-respected
construction law attorney and Fellow of the Association of Arbitrators Southern Africa. He worked on
many high-profile and significant cases in the construction industry, with a special focus on court
litigation, arbitrations and adjudications. Prior to joining Hewlett Bunn Incorporated, Steven practised as
an advocate for 10 years at the Johannesburg Bar.
Steven will be remembered for his incredible work ethic and passion for the law. Colleagues and friends
in the legal community and beyond will miss him terribly as they come to terms with his sudden and
untimely passing.
Fellow partner and co-founder of Hewlett Bunn Incorporated, Scott Hewlett, said “I have known Steven
since 2013 and have always admired his legal ability and strong work ethic. He has made a significant
contribution to construction law in South Africa, which the firm and Steven’s clients can all attest to. We
are overwhelmed with sadness, however, we are committed to remembering his legacy here at Hewlett
Bunn. We will miss him terribly”.
